Rika Olivier is without a doubt South Africa’s most formidable female DH force. She’s rad in so many ways, yet there is oddly not that much media coverage of her. Anyway, she hails from the Western Cape and has been riding bikes for 17 years, 15 of which have included DH racing. She jumps everything, and she races to win…like a mini greyhound DH racer. Rika has been supported by Giant South Africa for many years, and is also supported by Ace Sports with JT Racing Kit, both of whom she’d like to send a massive fist bump. Rika is the shared owner of Earthfire, a business that produces beautiful ceramic fireplaces; and she’d like to thank her partner for Alex for the long suffering support of her riding 😉
According to Rika, who will be racing in the 40 – 45 age group, her Top 3 Riding achievements are:
1. Masters Champ 2013 in Pietermaritzburg (she tried to add a disclaimer saying ‘home field advantage’…whatever!)
2. Competed in the Masters World Champs in 2014 in Hafjell Norway, and she says they were the “Best…Trails…Ever”
3. “Every time I beat one of my riding buddies at a race (of on Stravaaaa!). Which is not that often, so it’s all the sweeter”…
